Anklets are also known as ankle bracelet which is used to beautify the ankles. An anklet is an ornament worn around the ankle. Anklets traditionally have been worn for centuries by unmarried women in India; although in western culture both younger men and women may wear casual leather anklets, they are more popular among women, and more formal anklets are almost absolutely confined to women's fashion. Anklets can be made of silver, gold, and other less expensive metals as well as leather, plastic, nylon and other such materials. In the western culture anklets or ankle chains are mainly worn by younger females, but some older women also wear them. Metal anklets are of two types elastic and rigid. The elastic ones, frequently called pajeb or jhanjhar in India, are made by tying links in a string. Subsequently, echoing bells can be attached to the chain, so that the wearer can make lovely sounds while walking. Rigid ones are typically fashioned by giving shape to a smooth metal sheet.
